Harrisonville, MO (KSDK) - Five people died in a two vehicle crash in western Missouri on the Fourth of July.
Missouri Highway Patrol officials say a westbound car driven by 32 year old Jason Rittermeyer of Archie drove off the side of Route B south of Harrisonville in Cass County around 5:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Rittermeyer tried to regain control of the car when the vehicle skidded across the highway into the path of an eastbound pick-up truck where the two vehicles collided.
Two people in the car Rittermeyer was driving were thrown from the wreckage and pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as 22 year old Aleah Lucas and nine year old Sage Rittermeyer, both of Archie.
Also killed in the collision, the driver, Jason Rittermeyer, ten year old Noah, and eight year old Anna Rittermeyer, all of Archie. All five people were killed on impact.
The driver of the pick-up truck involved suffered minor injuries in the crash.
