ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - An evening out for several friends turned ugly last night in downtown St. Louis, after one of the men got into an argument with another over a beer spilled inside the car.
St. Louis Homicide detectives report just before midnight the men were driving on Chestnut on the north side of Kiener Plaza when one of the men in the car dumped beer inside the vehicle, sparking an argument.
Another man in in the car upset over the spill then got into an argument with the man who dumped the drink. That man got a gun and fired several shots at the victim, striking him repeatedly in the chest. The 29-year-old victim was dead at the scene
The shooter then opened fire on another man who was riding in the vehicle, but missed. The second man who was targeted was able to wrestle the gun away from the 34-year-old shooter and toss the weapon into the trunk of the car.
The shooter and the man who was shot at then engaged in a fistfight which left the accused shooter with a head injury and several lacerations.
No names have been released and the investigation continues.
