ST. PETERS, Mo. (KSDK) - A man has been charged after recent burglaries in St. Peters, Mo.
Police were called to the 900 block of Comstock Station July 22 after an overnight burglary. A smartphone and cash were taken from the kitchen table inside the home. Police believe the suspect entered through an unlocked back door.
The victim contacted police several hours later to say a GPS app on the cell phone showed a location on Country Creek.
Officers responded to the GPS location on Country Creek and recovered the cell phone and a firearm that was taken during a burglary July 20.
Police found 23-year-old Benjamin Lillard hiding in the attic. He was taken into custody without incident.
Lillard is charged with first-degree burglary, stealing over $500, receiving stolen property, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. He was released from prison in February after serving 15 months for second-degree burglary.
At the time of his arrest, Lillard had outstanding warrants for assault.
Lillard is held at the St. Charles County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
