ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Sometime in August, the Missouri State Highway Patrol will conduct DWI saturations in St. Charles, Lincoln, and Jefferson counties, according to Captain Ronald S. Johnson.

"The intoxicated driver continues to be a major contributor to traffic crashes in Missouri," said Captain Johnson. "More than 27 percent of all fatal crashes involved an impaired driver."

The MSHP chose the counties due to a high number of drinking-related accidents.

NewsChannel 5 intern Sam Clancy contributed to this report.
