ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Golfers will be shooting for a trophy this weekend at Norman K. Probstein Golf Center in Forest Park. Someone will capture it and become the St. Louis City Golf Champion for 2013.
Ninety golfers are entered in the tournament, which dates back to 1914. It was revived in 2003, and winning the event is a big deal.
"This tournament is in the upper echelon of the very important tournaments in St. Louis. So, it's almost, when you consider the major championships, like the PGA going on this weekend, in a way, you can include it in that group. So it's one of the crown jewels in the area," said one player.
"This course, the way they have it set up, it challenges the whole game. But definitely your short game is gonna have to be well executed for sure, because of the way the greens are gonna be set up and the pins. They set it up like a true tournament and it's very challenging," said another player.
