ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - More than 20,000 students attended classes at the St. Louis Public School District Monday for the first day of classes.
"We experienced a very smooth first day of school throughout the district," Superintendent Kevin Adams said in a news release. "The weather cooperated for the most part and our efforts to get the word out about the start of school seemed to have an impact. We are enrolling students today at several schools and will most likely continue to do so over the next few days.
Based on preliminary data, 20,055 students attended classes Monday, down 228 from the 20,283 mark set last year.
