LAKE ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KSDK) - Police say three women running from Lake St. Louis officers hit a police vehicle.
According to Lake St. Louis Police Chief Michael Force, the incident began around 8:15 p.m. when an officer attempted to stop a vehicle connected to report of stealing from a local business.
The suspect vehicle did not stop and drove head-on toward the police car, striking it as the officer tried to avoid a collision. The officer in question was uninjured, but could not continue in the pursuit.
Other officers with the Lake St. Louis Police Department and surrounding jurisdictions followed the car on Interstate 64.
The chase ended when the suspect vehicle crashed into a building at Pave Avenue and Lackland Road. The 17-year-old driver was immediately taken into custody. Police intend to charge her with first-degree assault on a police officer.
An 18-year-old passenger jumped from the vehicle before it struck the building. She was injured and had to be taken to a hospital to be examined.
The third passenger, a 20-year-old, fled the scene and remains at large.
