ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The Missouri Department of Transportation is celebrating a milestone and the anniversary of a life-saving program.
Wednesday marks the 20th anniversary of MoDOT's Motorist Assist Program. These are the men and women who brave traffic to assist stranded motorists along Missouri's interstates and highways.
The goal from the program's inception has been to relieve traffic congestion, to quickly and safely remove incidents off the road, and assist law enforcement.
MoDOT is offering drivers who have been helped by the program in the past a chance to personally say thank you to operators. There is an open house from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight at the MoDOT station on Salt Mill Road in Chesterfield.
