ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The latest unemployment numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show that the St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical area had a 7.9 percent unemployment rate for July 2013.
Nationally, the unemployment rate was 7.7 percent.
Between July 2012 and July 2013, industries added more than 2,000 jobs. Trade, transportation and utilities saw the largest growth with 7,800 jobs, followed by mining, logging and construction with 3,900 jobs.
Government and information saw declines in jobs with 3,700 and 1,000 jobs, respectively, compared to the same time last year.
