JEFFERSON COUNTY (KSDK) - A pursuit that spanned the entire length of Jefferson County ended Monday afternoon after police took the suspect into custody near the intersection of Telegraph and Arnold Tenbrook roads.
It began when a man took off after an officer tried to conduct a traffic stop in Potosi, causing a pursuit by authorities. Ten miles later, the man was pulled over yet again.
An officer walked up to the man's vehicle, and the man put the truck into reserve, slamming into the front of the patrol car, which in turn hit the police officer.
The man then fled the scene, heading through DeSoto and Hillsboro to Interstate 55. The chase ultimately ended in Arnold.
Police say the driver saw multiple officers and decided to pull over and lay down on the ground. The man is in custody, and has been taken to Jefferson County Jail.
A Potosi officer sustained minor injuries. The driver was not injured.
At least three spike strips were set up by the highway patrol. These strips took out a couple of the suspect's tires.
No charges have yet been filed.
