ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Lutheran Senior Services, which operates 10 senior living communities and nine affordable housing communities in Missouri and Illinois, will make flu shots mandatory for all employees.
Employees will need to receive flu vaccines by Dec. 1, 2013 as a condition of their employment. Medical or religious belief exemptions may be made.
"Used along with proper sanitary practices, the flu shot is the most effective deterrent available to us to prevent outbreaks of influenza for seniors in our communities or anywhere. It is a vital part of our mission to take every possible precaution to protect our employees' health and the health of those we serve," said Joan Devine, RN, director of performance improvement.
The shots will be free for employees. They will be provided at each location beginning this month.
