5 local organizations get grants from the General Motors Foundation

WENTZVILLE, Mo. (KSDK) - The General Motors Foundation announced Wednesday that it will give a total of $54,000 in grants to the United Way of Great St. Louis, St. Charles Community College, Make-A-Wish Missouri, Greenway Network and Earth Force.

GM has an assembly plant in Wentzville. The GM Foundation will provide $1.6 million in funding to nearly 200 organizations in the 45 cities where the company has plants.

"Wentzville is not only where our employees come to work every day, it is where our families, friends and neighbors live, and we are proud to be part of this community," GM Wentzville Plant Manager Nancy Laubenthal said. "Through these grants, the GM Foundation is building stronger communities and enriching the lives of our neighbors."

Here's a breakdown of how the grant money was allocated to the organizations:

United Way of Greater St. Louis ($19,000)
St. Charles Community College ($15,000)
Make-A-Wish Missouri ($10,000)
Greenway Network ($5,000)
Earth Force ($5,000)
