ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) - A Lindbergh high school senior earned a worldwide distinction recently for the 2013 Google Science Fair.
Katie Hufker was one of 90 students in the world, including one of 10 in the 15-16 age group, to be selected as a regional finalist.
Katie researched whether teens who participated in a support group for siblings of children with autism spectrum disorder could more comfortably explain the condition to peers or strangers, according to a spokeswoman with the Lindbergh school district. Katie has a twin sister with autism.
The Google Science fair is an annual online science competition that is for students between 13-18 from around the world.
She was also chosen for the Washington University School of Medicine Young Scientist Program for this past summer.
