ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Kim Massie is one of the most recognizable voices in St. Louis. She sings it all, from blues to rock 'n roll and even a little country.
She plays twice a week at The Beale on Broadway and all over the Midwest the rest of the week, but she recently had to have her thyroid removed.
The surgery hasn't kept her from singing yet, as a matter of fact, she recently shared the stage with Mavis Staples in Fort Knox, Ky. However, they did find some cancer cells, and she's currently undergoing radiation.
So some friends are getting together this Sunday at The Sheldon to do a benefit show for Massie. Proceeds will go toward her medical expenses.
The show starts at 5 p.m. and features Denise Thimes, Eric "Guitar" Davis, Roland Johnson, Anita Jackson, Cheryl Brown and Adrienne Felton. Tickets are $15 at the door.
