MADISON COUNTY, Ill. (KSDK) - A 50-year-old Madison, Ill. man has been charged after allegedly tying up two people and sexually assaulting one of them.
Jerry D. Sutt is charged with two counts of unlawful restraint and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault.
The assault took place late Wednesday night at a home in rural Collinsville. Police say the victim and another person in the home were tied up by Sutt, who they say was armed with a handgun.
Sutt is accused of then sexually assaulting one of the victims.
It is unclear how the victims got free, but the victim of the sexual assault was taken to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment.
Sutt is not in police custody. Members of the Madison County Sheriff's Office, Granite City Police Department, and the United States Marshals Office are actively searching for Sutt. Police say Sutt has an extensive criminal history and should be considered armed and dangerous.
Bond is set at $500,000.
