WELDON SPRING, Mo. (KSDK) - The annual Cpl. Michael E. Webster Memorial Blood Drive will be held next month in memory of a fallen Missouri State Highway patrol Trooper.
Cpl. Webster died in October 1993 when he was hit by a drunk driver while he was on duty.
The blood drive will be held at Highway patrol Troop Headquarters across Missouri on Oct. 2, the anniversary of Cpl. Webster's death. Donors can also give blood in his honor at the Red Cross locations in north St. Louis County, west St. Louis County, south St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Lindell, and Fairview Heights blood donation centers between Oct. 2 and 12.
Cpl. Webster's widow, Kathey, said she was inspired to start the blood drives for several reasons.
"First, Michael was an avid blood donor," Kathey Webster said. "Also, he received several blood transfusions in the hospital to try to keep him alive after the accident. The blood sustained him even if for just a little while longer."
