St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - The possibility of a lengthy prison term looms for a north St. Louis man who pleaded guilty Tuesday to a variety of charges related to attacks on an infant in 2012.
Marcus Kilcrease, 25 of the 1800 block of North 20th Street, was slated for trial, but opted for a guilty plea to three counts each of first degree assault, child abuse, and child endangerment.
The victim, a one year old girl, was under the care of Kilcrease between March and June 2012. Police were called to investigate after the child was being treated at a local hospital with critical injuries.
Doctors said evidence suggested the baby had been punched repeatedly, and also had a severe head injury when she was taken to the hospital.
Police say Kilcrease told investigators he was trying to discipline the child when the injuries occurred,
Sentencing is set for November.
