SAN DIEGO (CNN) - Mitt Romney gets the green light to build a luxury mansion in California. It's the same San Diego seaside house that became an issue during the 2012 presidential campaign, only the issue then was the extravagant elevator Romney planned on building in the garage for his vehicles.
The former Republican presidential candidate had already received zoning permission to demolish the 3,100 square-foot home he owned to build an 11,000 square-foot residence, but a neighbor filed an appeal over the intended size of the new house.
The California Coastal Commission on Friday rejected the appeal.
Barring any lawsuit, the former Massachusetts governor can go ahead and build his lavish beach house on the San Diego coast.
