COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (KSDK) - Ameren Illinois customers should expect lower natural gas prices for the 2013-2014 winter, an Ameren Illinois spokesperson announced Monday.
"Because of our price hedging and storage strategies, we anticipate that the gas supply portion of a customer bill will be lower this winter than last," said Ameren Illinois Gas Supply Director Ken Dothage.
Last year customers paid, on average, $0.57 per therm. This year customers are estimated to pay $0.52-$0.55 per therm, which is a five percent reduction.
Despite the lower cost per therm, customers could see a higher heating bill this year because temperatures last year were higher than average.
