NHL lockout: St. Louis Blues' David Backes, others make video message for fans

St. Louis, MO (KSDK) -- The National Hockey League is shut down after the players union and owners could not reach a labor agreement.

Players, fans and business owners aren't happy about the move.

St. Louis Blues' David Backes, Pittsburgh Penquins' Sidney Crosby, Colorado Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog, Toronto Maple Leafs' James Reimer and Chicago Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews got together to speak on behalf of the NHL players in a video message for fans.

The video is in response to a fan video posted on YouTube.

NHL owners and the players union could not reach an agreement about splitting the NHL's annual $3-billion in revenues.
