Orlando, FL (Detroit Free Press) -- Kim English will be 24 when the regular season starts.  Ditto for Kyle Singler.

In this age of one-and-done prospects, the Detroit Pistons will have two rookies who spent four years in college.

That steadiness was on display Monday when the duo helped spark the Pistons' summer-league team to a 76-73 victory over the Utah Jazz at the Amway Center.

English, who played at Missouri, noted the similarities with Singler, a 2011 second-round pick of the Pistons who spent last season overseas.

"Singler is a pro," said English, one of the Pistons' second-round picks last month. "He played a year in Spain this year, four years at Duke.

"He's not surprised by anything. You know what you're going to get every night from guys like him. The shots might not fall every night, but he competes and that's something us two in particular as older rookies is (we) definitely compete every time we step on the floor."

English scored 18; Singler 14 on 6-for-8 shooting. But the Jazz hit the Pistons' second unit with a 19-0 run in the first half to take a 34-25 halftime lead.

The Pistons regained control quickly with English and Singler helping the cause.
