(KSDK SPORTS) -- The St. Louis Billikens and the Santa Clara Broncos face off on Wednesday in NCAA Basketball action.
The St. Louis Billikens started their season with a win over USC Upstate but they know the schedule is only going to get a lot tougher as the year goes on. If the A-10 wasn't getting difficult enough the addition of Butler has made it even deeper and more competitive.
In St. Louis' first game Dwayne Evans had 21 points and eight rebounds, Cody Ellis had 15 points and six rebounds, Jordan Jett had 14 points and five rebounds, and Mike McCall Jr. had 12 points. As a team the Billikens scored 76 points, had 13 assists and shot 51.9 percent while allowing 59 points, 15 assists, and 53.2 shooting by the Spartans. St. Louis is talented and well coached but they will need to play better defense if they hope to have a big year.
The Santa Clara Broncos look to be an improved team over what we saw last season but it was tough to tell in their first game as they pounded Simpson. Of course it wasn't the Broncos performance on the court which leaves the questions, it was playing an opponent we know nothing about.
Santa Clara scored 106 points, had 27 assists, and shot 50 percent from the floor while allowing 66 points, 12 assists, and 38.7 shooting against in the 40 point blowout. Kevin Foster led the way with 27 points and nine assists, Robert Garrett had 14 points and seven rebounds, Marc Trasloni had 13 points and nine rebounds, and Raymond Cowels III had 12 points as Santa Clara played 11 players with 10 of them getting double digit minutes. We will certainly find out more about Santa Clara in this spot.
St. Louis is the better team here but I see a lot of points being put up and I look
St. Louis is the better team here but I see a lot of points being put up and I look for Santa Clara to get the cover getting the boatload of points.
