Evansville, IN (Sports Network) - Ed Daniel registered a double-double with 21
points and a game-high 15 rebounds as the Murray State Racers captured an
82-70 win over the Evansville Purple Aces in non-conference action at the Ford
Also scoring 21 points for the Racers (7-1) was Isaiah Canaan who added six
rebounds and four assists in an effort to offset his seven turnovers for a
team that has now won four in a row. Stacy Wilson accounted for 18 points and
Brandon Garrett 16 for the visitors as well.
The Purple Aces (5-3), losers of two of their last three, were paced by Ned
Cox with 16 points and DJ Balentine with 15 off the bench. Colt Ryan checked
in with 13 points and Troy Taylor posted 11 points and a team-best 12 boards
in the losing cause.
Despite shooting only 2-of-6 behind the three-point line in the first half,
Evansville made good on an impressive 51.9 percent from the floor overall in
order to post a 39-36 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Aces sank to just 34.5 percent accuracy from the field
and MSU exploded to knock down 66.7 percent as the Racers ran away with the
Murray State connected on just 12-of-22 at the free-throw line on the day, but
made up for that by winning the battle of the boards, 41-30.
