Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Mitch Patton tallied 14 points, helping
the IUPUI Jaguars overcome the Denver Pioneers, 59-49, in Summit League play
at the Jungle.
Marcellus Barksdale netted 13 points and had eight assists for the Jaguars
(6-21, 1-9 Summit League), who broke out of a nine-game slide. Elijah Ray and
Khufu Najee both contributed 12 points.
Chris Udofia scored 13 points to lead the Pioneers (12-12, 5-4), who fell
after back-to-back wins. Brett Olson scored 10 points in the losing effort.
In the first half, the Jaguars shot 47.6 percent from the field, slightly
better than the Pioneers' 45 percent, and they led 25-20 at halftime.
The Jaguars distanced themselves in the second half, shooting 62.5 percent
from the floor and 12-of-17 at the free-throw line, while their opponent
failed to keep pace at 36 percent from the floor.
Free-throw shooting was a deciding factor in this one, as the Jaguars made 15-
of-21 at the charity stripe, while the visitors hit just 7-of-11.
