Burroughs falls in Class 3 title game

Kevin McMahon rushed for 213 yards and two touchdowns to lead Maryville over John Burroughs 35-22 on Friday in Missouri's Class 3 state championship game.

McMahon scored on runs of 65 and 59 yards as Maryville led 21-10 at the half. Derek Stiens (stynz) added two touchdowns for Maryville (15-0), which led throughout in completing a perfect season.

John Burroughs (13-1) was led by Ezekiel Elliott, who set an all-class state record with 419 all-purpose yards. Elliott ran 18 times for 218 yards and three touchdowns. One of his scores was an 84-yard kickoff return in the third quarter.

Burroughs, coached by former NFL quarterback Gus Frerotte, lost in the championship game for the third straight year.

Maryville won its last six games by a combined total of 245 points.
