St. Louis (KSDK) - Some would argue it was David Freese and his walk-off home run at Game 6 of the World Series that helped the Cardinals win the title last year, but others believe it was a little something that happened in the red birds' front office.
This year, some are trying to replicate that luck.
As you probably know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and so last year at this time the ladies of the front office lined up to get pink hair extensions in an effort to honor a woman fighting the disease and another who had lost her battle.
Then, one win after the next, some thought those extensions were to thank for the Cards' success.
So, on Tuesday the gals and guys were at it again.
Jon Tomas Salon came in Tuesday afternoon to attach the pink parts, and dozens got them put in.
Melody Yount is the breast cancer survivor for which the rally ribbons began.
"All throughout the post season people would kind of comment so it was a neat reminder as the post season went on, and this year when they did it again, it was neat to see that they were gonna do it another time and support all of us," said Yount.
The Cardinals organization also collected donations from employees for the Siteman Cancer Center in the memory of former front office employee Karen Brown who died from the disease.
