St. Louis (KSDK) -- The St. Louis Cardinals clinching the second National League Wild Card spot means the team will shuffle things around for the seaon finale and to prepare for the postseason.
The Cardinals will play their regular season finale against the Cincinnati Reds at 7:15 p.m. at Busch Stadium.
Adam Wainwright was prepared to take the mound if the Cardinals needed a win to get into the playoffs. Since the Cardinals clinched Wednesday morning with a Los Angeles Dodgers loss, Wainwright will be saved in case the Cardinals end up advancing past the Wild Card.
Shelby Miller will get the start against the Reds. He is 1-0 on the season with a 2.35 ERA.
Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny said Kyle Lohse will get the start in the Wild Card game against the Atlanta Braves Friday in Atlanta. He's 16-3 on the year. The game time has not been announced.
The winner of the one-game Wild Card will advance to the National League Division Series and will play either the Cincinnati Reds or the Washington Nationals. The teams were tied with having the best record in the league, putting additional importance on the Cardinals and Reds matchup.
