MLB 2012 postseason schedule announcement

St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - With the regular season wrapping up Wednesday evening, Major League Baseball has announced the tentative schedule for the inaugural 'Wild Card' games and Division Series.

The St. Louis Cardinals will travel to Atlanta to face the Braves in the first of its kind National League Wild Card Game. First pitch is scheduled for Friday, October 5 at 4:07 p.m. Central Time and the game is airing on TBS.

The winner of that Wild Card Game will host the first two games in a Best-of-5 series against National League East Division Champions the Washington Nationals. If the Cardinals advance, the first game will be Sunday, October 7.

The National League Division Series A between the Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants airs on TBS and the Major League Baseball Network.

The participants in the American League Wild Card Game have yet to be determined. The winner of that one-game playoff will host the first two games in the next round against the AL team with the best record in the league.
