Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - Juan Uribe's infield single in the top
of the ninth inning proved to be the difference, as the Los Angeles Dodgers
edged the New York Mets, 3-2, Thursday in the rubber match of a three-game
set at Citi Field.
Earlier in the ninth facing Scott Rice (1-1), Andre Ethier's RBI single broke
a 1-1 tie. Rice took the loss, though Bobby Parnell gave up Uribe's grounder
in the hole at short to make it 3-1.
Dodgers starter Hyun-Jin Ryu impressed and allowed three hits and one run to
go along with eight strikeouts over seven innings. Kenley Jansen (1-0)
replaced Ryu and struck out two in the eighth to earn the victory.
David Wright drove in one run, and Ike Davis added a solo shot for the Mets in
the ninth to account for the final run. Jeremy Hefner tossed seven solid
innings and allowed one run on three hits and three walks while fanning four.
