(KSDK Sports) -- The Cardinals improved to 3-1 on the current homestand with a 6-1 win over the Cubs last night...the Cardinals are trying to win three-straight for first time since a four-game win streak May 26-29.

Right now, St. Louis owns a Major League best 47-26 record and they lead the majors with a +111 run differential.

Tonight the Cardinals begin a string of 11-straight interleague games. Three against Texas, Two against Houston, then they'll travel to Oakland for three and finally they'll face Albert Pujols and the Angels for three.

St. Louis is 3-1 (1-1 at home) in interleague play this season, all vs. KC, and the Cardinals are 128-111 all-time in interleague play, the top
winning pct. amongst all NL teams.

The Cardinals open a 3-game weekend set tonight with the Texas Rangers, who will be making their first-ever regular season appearance at Busch Stadium.  The Cardinals defeated Texas in the 2011 World Series, winning 3-of-4 Series games played at Busch...after an open date on Monday, the Cardinals will visit the American League's newest entry, the Houston Astros, for a pair of games next Tue. & Wed...the last time the Cardinals met a team that had switched leagues was in 1998 when they went 8-3 against the Milwaukee Brewers during the Brew Crew's first season as a member of the National League.

Players of note: Edward Mujica on Wed. converted his 21st straight save opportunity to begin the season...it's the best start to a season for a Redbirds closer since 1995 when Tom Henke was perfect in his first 22 save opps, the club record..."Chief" Mujica has posted 13 saves without allowing a baserunner this season...Lee Smith had 22 "perfect" saves for the Redbirds in 1992 among his league-leading 43 rescues.

Jon Jay owns the NL's longest active errorless streak (217 games/515 chances) for centerfielders dating back to his last error on Aug. 24, 2011...his 217-game errorless streak is 2nd only to Curt Flood (226 games, amongst Cardinals outfielders.

Lance Lynn last night delivered the Cardinals Major League-leading 41st win by a starting pitcher...the 41 starter wins in the first 73 games is the most by a Cardinals staff since 2005 when they also posted
41 W's...the 1944 club had a franchise-best 43 starter wins through their first 73 games.

Yadier Molina is currently leading the majors in batting (.366)...his .366 BA & 94 hits thru the first 73 games is best all-time by a Cardinals catcher and it's the 13th best start in franchise history...next best was Albert Pujols who was batting .380 with 100 hits thru the team's first 73 games in 2003...Rogers Hornsby's .428 mark thru 73 games in 1921 is the Cardinals top BA during that span...WIN SHARES: Molina's .382 BA (65-170) during victories, is 2nd only to Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt (.386) among all Major Leaguers (min. 150 AB's).
