(KSDK Sports) -- The second place St. Louis Cardinals are skidding right now, having lost 5 of their last 6.  Today the 48-31 Cardinals try rebounding from another loss at the 47-34 Oakland Athletics 6-1 Saturday.

The Redbirds will turn their ace Adam Wainwright (10-5, 2.31 ERA) to end the current two game skid, and get the team back on track.  Since losing 6-2 against the Diamondbacks in Phoenix, Wainwright has been unstoppable on the road, with a stellar 7-0 record since.

The key for Wainwright is command and consistency.  In his seven road wins thus far, his key to success has been keeping runners off the bases and scores off the board.  And in each of those wins, Wainwright pushed deep into games reaching seven, eight, seven, seven, 7.1, seven and 8.1 innings.

Oakland is 6-of-34 with five RBIs, a pair from Brandon Moss and Chris Young, versus Wainwright.

The Cardinals line up will face A's starter Jarrod Parker (6-6, 4.27 ERA). At home Parker is just 3-3 winning his last three home decisions.
