ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The St. Louis Cardinals have traded left-handed pitcher Marc Rzepczynski to the Cleveland Indians in exchange for a minor league prospect.

Prior to the trade, Rzepczynski had been moved to Triple-AAA Memphis earlier in the day.

The Cardinals will receive shortstop Juan Herrera, a native of Bani, Dominican Republic.  The Indians signed Herrera as a non-drafted free agent in October 2010.

Herrera, 20, will be assigned to the Cardinals Single-A club, the State College (Pa.) Spikes of the New York-Penn League.  He was batting .275 in 39 games with the Mahoning Valley in the same minor league affiliation.
