ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The St. Louis Rams are accepting applications from within the St. Louis bi-state region for the 5th Annual Playground Build/Community Improvement Project.

Applications are due by March 11 and can be found online at www.stlouisrams.com/community.

The chosen applicant will receive funding and help from members of the Rams organization to participate in the project during the month of June.

The project will see some changes this year. Molly Higgins, vice president of corporate communications/civic affairs for the St. Louis Rams, said the Rams will expand beyond traditional playground projects. They will consider funding any project that could enhance the community.

The St. Louis Rams introduced the project in 2009 when funded the construction of a park in East St. Louis. The following year, Monroe eMints Academy, a St. Louis Schools elementary school, received a playground. In 2011, the Rams continued the tradition and helped build a playground for Giant Steps, a special education school and therapy center for children with autistic symptoms. In 2012 Fairmont City, Illinois received funding for the town's first playground.
