Pittsburgh Penguins left wing Chris Kunitz and Vancouver Canucks goaltender
Roberto Luongo have been named the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the week ending
Vanek captured the First Star after posting a league-best 10 points with five
goals and five assists in four games last week. He compiled half of his point
total in a 7-4 victory at Boston, registering a hat trick and two helpers.
The Austria native became the first Sabres player in 20 years to record
multiple five-point games in a season. He had two goals and three assists
against Philadelphia in the season-opener.
Kunitz earned the Second Star by totaling five goals -- four of which came in
one game -- and three assists in four contests.
Luongo was rewarded with the Third Star after compiling a 2-0-1 record with a
0.95 goals-against average and a .963 save percentage.
