(KSDK Sports) -- Going into tonight's game against the San Jose Sharks, the Blues are still riding a wave of confidence thanks to their 4-0 start, their first in franchise history.

A huge factor in the Blues quick start has been the energetic play of captain David Backes.  Backes is coming off his first 3 point (2-1-3) game of the year and his first multi-goal game since March 8, 2012.

In that game against the Rangers, Backes passed up Brenden Shanahan for 13th on the Blues all-points list among forwards, he also sits just 3 goals behind Perry Turnbull for 13th on the all-time goals list.

Backes' 4 goals in four games is even more impressive when you consider the didn not reach that mark last season until the 35th game.  At this pace, he could easily be heading toward the best season of his career.

If there's anything you need to know going into this next game is that you should count on David Backes to remain a strong leader who will influence big plays.
